What happened
Holoearth's April 2025 management letter set version 1.0.0 for April 24 and described a marketplace for user-made items. Creator Tools applied original illustrations to clothing templates and chat stickers; approved work could be sold through the HoloPhone Marketplace or a customized My Shop. The platform said creators could redeem sales for cash, joining avatar appearance, social space and commerce in one account system.
The release treated fashion as both personal expression and a small virtual business. A person's avatar could wear an item, visit the creator's shop and carry that purchase through Holoearth's activities. That context makes a garment more than a cosmetic file: it can signal affiliation, promote an artist and shape how users recognize one another.
Lifecycle note as of this review on September 15, 2026: Holoearth is closed. COVER announced the termination on May 14, 2026, ended sales of user-created items on June 3 and discontinued the service on June 28 at 21:00 JST. The launch remains worth documenting, but its marketplace can no longer be described as an available platform.
The human implication
Template-based creation can lower the barrier to selling, yet review and visibility still determine whose work reaches buyers. Clear rules are needed for derivative art, trademarks and removal. Buyers also need to know what persists if a creator withdraws an item or the service changes, since purchased appearance can become part of a person's routine social presentation.
The letter establishes the scheduled 1.0 release, marketplace functions, review requirement and cash redemption. It also describes future tracking and talent-avatar plans as aspirations, not shipped features. This record does not treat those plans as delivered. Subsequent service history should be reported separately; the evidence here captures what the 1.0 system offered and promised at its April 2025 checkpoint. That distinction matters because a roadmap can explain direction, but it cannot serve as evidence that a user already had the promised capability.
